Burnley host Wolves at Turf Moor on Friday night with both relegated sides still trying to settle into life in the Championship. The Clarets finally recorded their first league win of the campaign at Watford before a dramatic 2-2 draw with Charlton, while Wolves arrive after consecutive defeats.
Nicky Hayen’s side have been far more entertaining than their league position suggests. Burnley have scored in each of their five home league games, but they have also conceded in every one of them, which has created a strong platform for goal-based betting.
Wolves have their own defensive issues after conceding four times across losses to Middlesbrough and Bolton. César Peixoto still wants his team to play on the front foot, and the visitors have enough threat in Fer López, Jean-Ricner Bellegarde and Mateus Mané to trouble a makeshift Burnley back line.
FreeOddsTips is backing Over 2.5 Goals & BTTS Yes at 2.10. Both teams have clear routes to goal, while neither defence arrives with much room for error. Our predicted score is a 2-1 Burnley win.
Match Preview
Burnley’s recent performances point towards an open contest. They put four past Watford and then created 18 shots against Charlton, although the late equaliser in that match again exposed their problems when defending decisive moments. Hayen has spoken openly about pursuing another goal rather than protecting a narrow lead, and his 4-2-3-1 gives Jacob Bruun Larsen and Largie Ramazani licence to attack from wide areas.
Wolves are without recognised senior forwards Adam Armstrong and Raúl Jiménez, so Sean Neave may be asked to lead the line. That weakens the away side’s focal point, but not necessarily their ability to score: Fer López has been productive this season, Bellegarde scored against Bolton, and Peixoto’s side continue to create chances through wide deliveries and runners from midfield. Burnley will also be without centre-back Anel Ahmedhodžić, making a clean sheet harder to trust.
The likely pattern is a game with attacking width, quick breaks after turnovers and periods where both midfields are exposed. Burnley’s home BTTS record and Wolves’ recent concession of four goals in two games make the combined goals-and-BTTS selection the right angle.
