Peterborough welcome Sheffield Wednesday to the Weston Homes Stadium on Saturday as Luke Williams’ side look to build on an unbeaten start to their League One home campaign.
Posh have taken four points from their two home league games, beating Mansfield Town 2-1 before drawing 0-0 with Stevenage. Their away results have been far less convincing, but a return to familiar surroundings should help them keep this match competitive.
Sheffield Wednesday arrive second in League One after winning three of their opening four league matches. Henrik Pedersen’s team have also won both away fixtures 2-1, although they have conceded in every league game and must now adjust to the loss of Louie Barry.

Match Preview
Peterborough’s early results have been difficult to judge. They have produced two excellent cup wins, including a 5-1 victory at Watford, but have collected only four points from four League One matches and failed to score in their last two league outings.
The 4-0 defeat at Blackpool exposed problems when defending crosses and dealing with loose balls inside the penalty area. Williams received a much more disciplined response against Stevenage, when Alex Bass made several important saves and a young back four recorded Peterborough’s first league clean sheet of the campaign.
There were still issues at the other end. Posh created several promising openings but officially finished the Stevenage game without a shot on target. Harry Leonard missed two good chances, although his wider form remains encouraging. The striker has scored four times in six competitive appearances and is responsible for half of Peterborough’s goals this season.
Williams has generally used a 4-2-3-1, with two midfielders behind a mobile attacking line. Ben Woods brings energy and forward passing, while Harrison Jones can carry the ball through midfield. Ethan Williams and Bolu Shofowoke offer direct running around Leonard, which could be especially important if Owura Edwards is unavailable.
Sheffield Wednesday have made the stronger league start. They have won four of six matches in all competitions and followed a remarkable 7-2 win over Bromley with a hard-earned 2-1 victory at Wycombe Wanderers.
Pedersen’s side fell behind early at Wycombe but responded through Louie Barry and a Jamal Lowe penalty. Wednesday were not as dominant as they had been against Bromley, yet they competed well for second balls, created further chances and protected their lead during the closing stages.
Barry Bannan remains the player who sets the pace in midfield. His passing can quickly turn a defensive situation into an attack, while Billy Mitchell gives him the freedom to move into more advanced areas. Callum Slattery has added two league goals from attacking midfield, and the full-backs Yan Valery and Reece James provide width around a relatively narrow front line.
Jamal Lowe is Wednesday’s main scoring threat with four goals in four League One appearances. Mason Burstow can play alongside him or start from the right, but Barry’s injury removes pace, goals and direct running from the left. Kieran Morrison is the obvious replacement, although it is a demanding role for the Liverpool loanee to take on immediately.
Wednesday are the better-placed team, but their two away victories have both finished 2-1 and they have yet to keep a league clean sheet. Peterborough have conceded only once across their two home league games, so this may be much tighter than the table suggests.

Why Draw X Makes Sense
From a betting point of view, the key question is whether Wednesday’s stronger start makes them reliable enough to win a third consecutive away league game. At 3.50, I prefer the draw.
Peterborough’s home performances have been much better than their away displays. They beat Mansfield 2-1 and held Stevenage to a goalless draw, conceding only once across those two matches. Williams’ team also looked more controlled defensively last time out, with Josh Feeney making his debut alongside David Okagbue and Bass playing well behind them.
Wednesday have won both league away matches, but each ended 2-1. They conceded first at Wycombe and have allowed a goal in all four League One fixtures. That leaves Peterborough with a realistic chance of scoring, particularly if Leonard gets the type of openings he passed up against Stevenage.
The visitors should still have plenty of the ball through Bannan and Mitchell. Lowe is also in excellent form, so backing Peterborough alone would carry its own risk. The draw works because it respects Wednesday’s greater scoring threat without ignoring Posh’s unbeaten home record.
Barry’s absence could make Wednesday less dangerous on the break. Morrison may come into the side, but replacing a player who had three goals and an assist in six appearances is not straightforward. Peterborough should have fewer wide runs to track, allowing their midfield to stay closer to Bannan and Slattery.
For Draw X to win, the teams must be level after 90 minutes and stoppage time. The main danger is Wednesday’s ability to turn a close match through Lowe, Bannan or one of Pedersen’s bench options. Even so, the 3.50 price looks generous enough for a fixture that could remain tight deep into the second half.

Peterborough will assess Owura Edwards after the winger left the Stevenage draw with an apparent hamstring problem. Bolu Shofowoke replaced him and is a possible starter on the right or left of the attacking line.
Thomas O’Connor and Carl Johnston missed the Stevenage game after picking up knocks at Blackpool. Josh Feeney made his debut in central defence, while James Dornelly came in at right-back. Vernon Masara has also missed the last two squads following a knock suffered during the cup win at Watford.
Wednesday are without Louie Barry, who suffered ankle-ligament damage at Wycombe and could be sidelined for up to three months. Kieran Morrison replaced him during that match and may now start on the left.
Ricardo Santos is another doubt after an ankle issue forced him off against Bromley. Gabriel Otegbayo partnered Liam Cooper at Wycombe and could retain his place.
