Başakşehir welcome four-time defending champions Galatasaray to the Başakşehir Fatih Terim Stadium after taking four points from their opening three Süper Lig matches.

Nuri Şahin’s side were held to a 1-1 draw by Kasımpaşa last time out, while Galatasaray maintained their unbeaten league start by beating Göztepe 3-2. Okan Buruk’s champions have already scored nine league goals, but they have also conceded four.

Galatasaray are clearly the stronger side on paper, especially with Victor Osimhen starting the season in outstanding form. However, Başakşehir have lost only one of their last 10 competitive home matches and the price on the home side avoiding defeat looks generous.

Our prediction is 1-1, with Basaksehir Asian Handicap +0.5 at odds of 2.20 our best bet.

Match Preview

Başakşehir’s early results have been mixed. They opened the league campaign with a 2-0 home win over Kocaelispor, lost 2-1 at Trabzonspor and then drew with Kasımpaşa. Their European campaign had already ended with a 3-1 aggregate defeat to Inter Turku, leaving Şahin’s team free to concentrate on domestic football.

The Kasımpaşa match summed up Başakşehir’s main problem. They played well before half-time and took the lead through Eldor Shomurodov, but lost control as Kasımpaşa pressed higher after the break. Şahin has admitted that his team are producing strong spells rather than complete 90-minute performances.

There are still several reasons for encouragement. Başakşehir’s regular back four of Ömer Ali Şahiner, Emin Bayram, Jerome Opoku and Christopher Operi have started each league match, giving the side some continuity. Operi pushes forward from left-back, while Olivier Kemen helps carry the ball through midfield. Andreas Skov Olsen and Abbosbek Fayzullaev offer different threats around the penalty area, with Skov Olsen more direct and Fayzullaev comfortable finding passes between defenders.

Basaksehir vs Galatasaray prediction

Galatasaray arrive as league leaders after collecting seven points from nine. The opening 2-2 draw with Çorum FK was followed by a dominant 4-0 away win at Erzurumspor and the 3-2 victory over Göztepe. They have scored at least twice in all three league games.

Buruk’s side normally set up in a 4-2-3-1, with Lucas Torreira and Mario Lemina giving them strength in central midfield. Gabriel Sara works behind the striker, Yunus Akgün carries the ball into dangerous areas and Barış Alper Yılmaz attacks space from the opposite side. Roland Sallai has also added width and set-piece quality from right-back.

That attacking strength makes Galatasaray difficult to contain, but they have not looked completely secure. Three of their four league goals conceded have arrived during the first 20 minutes of the second half. They also allowed Göztepe to score almost immediately after establishing a 3-1 lead, which should encourage a Başakşehir side with enough pace and movement to punish lapses in concentration.

Why Basaksehir Asian Handicap +0.5 Makes Sense

The straight Galatasaray win may be the most obvious result, but backing the champions at a short price would not interest me here. At 2.20, the value is with Başakşehir on the +0.5 Asian Handicap.

The settlement is simple: the bet wins if Başakşehir win or draw. We only lose if Galatasaray take all three points. That protection is important when the home side have gone eight competitive matches unbeaten at their own ground.

Across their last 10 competitive home games, Başakşehir have won six, drawn three and lost only once. They have also kept six clean sheets during that sequence. Galatasaray are a major step up from most of those opponents, but Şahin has a settled defence and several attackers capable of breaking quickly when possession changes hands.

The tactical concern for Galatasaray is the space that can appear around their advanced full-backs. Operi can overlap on the left, while Skov Olsen and Fayzullaev can attack from either side of Başakşehir’s supporting striker. The home side do not need to dominate possession; they need to defend their penalty area, survive Galatasaray’s pressure and make their counter-attacks count.

The main risk is clear. Galatasaray have scored nine times in three league matches, and their centre-forward has been directly involved in seven goals. If Başakşehir repeat their poor second half against Kasımpaşa, they may struggle to withstand that pressure. Even so, their home record and Galatasaray’s defensive lapses make Basaksehir Asian Handicap +0.5 at 2.20 worth backing.

Team News

Başakşehir completed their final preparations without a newly announced suspension or major injury setback. The same defence has started all three league matches, while Umut Güneş and Jakub Kałuziński are competing to partner Kemen in midfield.

Umut Bozok started against Kasımpaşa, but Bertuğ Yıldırım and Davie Selke are alternatives at centre-forward. Yusuf Sarı could also be considered after making an impact from the bench in the latest draw. Nuno Da Costa is no longer an option after leaving the club by mutual agreement.

Galatasaray are expected to be without new signing Rafael Leão as he recovers from a thigh problem. Abdülkerim Bardakcı was withdrawn at half-time against Göztepe and was due to be assessed, while there is also some uncertainty in goal after Jankat Yılmaz replaced Uğurcan Çakır in the latest starting XI. Aleksey Batrakov, Lesley Ugochukwu and Leroy Sané give Buruk strong options from the bench, but Deniz Gül and El-Chadaille Bitshiabu have had little preparation time following their late transfers.

Players to Watch

Eldor Shomurodov — Başakşehir

Shomurodov has scored three goals in three league appearances and is most effective when he can play close to a conventional centre-forward. His movement between Galatasaray’s midfield and defence will be central to Başakşehir’s counter-attacking plan.

Christopher Operi — Başakşehir

Operi has already scored this season and created one of Başakşehir’s best chances against Kasımpaşa. His forward runs can cause problems, although he must also manage the threat coming down Galatasaray’s right side.

Victor Osimhen — Galatasaray

Osimhen has opened the league season with five goals and two assists in three matches. His pace, pressing and penalty-box movement will test Emin Bayram and Jerome Opoku throughout the game.

Gabriel Sara — Galatasaray

Sara scored against Göztepe and is Galatasaray’s main creative link behind the striker. His set-piece delivery and ability to find space around Başakşehir’s midfield could be especially important if the home side defend deep.

Head-to-Head

The clearest recent meeting in the current record ended in a 3-0 home victory for Galatasaray. Buruk’s team caused problems through pressing, attacks from the right and passes into space behind the Başakşehir defence.

Renato Nhaga also scored against Başakşehir in March 2026. Those meetings show Galatasaray’s attacking ceiling, but Başakşehir’s current eight-match unbeaten home run gives this fixture a different betting context.

Final Verdict

Galatasaray are the better team and have far more attacking depth, but that does not automatically make the away win a good bet. They have conceded in two of their opening three league games and have been particularly open shortly after half-time.

Başakşehir’s strongest argument is their home record. A settled defence, Operi’s width and the movement of their supporting attackers should give Şahin’s side a chance of staying in the game. The main danger is whether they can maintain their concentration when Galatasaray increase the pressure.

At 2.20, I prefer the protection offered by Basaksehir Asian Handicap +0.5. Galatasaray should create chances, but Başakşehir can make this a tight contest and take a point. The correct-score prediction is Başakşehir 1-1 Galatasaray.

FreeOddsTips Prediction

Başakşehir’s strong home form makes them difficult to oppose at this price, particularly against a Galatasaray team that has conceded four goals in three league matches. A draw is enough for the handicap to land, and a close game looks likely.
